About Judy Harrison & Swing Shift
Judy Harrison has started a new band Swing Shift. It is just as high energy and fun as her country band High Impact. After singing with several big bands over the years it has always been in the back of Judy’s mind to start a swing band. Swing Shift has incorporated songs from both the swing era as well as some jazz and Latin favorites. “We decided we just wanted to do music we loved that was great to dance to.” says Judy. The three part harmony is still a key feature as well as dynamic choreography. There are many songs which include the band members singing. The incredibly talented group consists of band leader/keyboard player Mindy Rohn, Clark Harner on drums, Larry Avery on guitar and Marshall Cronican-Walker on bass. The singer dancers include Carey Owens, Susan Hatt Johnson, and Kristina Godfrey. They also have Interlochen Arts Academy professors Laurie Sears on saxophone and Tom Riccobono on trombone. The horn section rounds out with Rick Stewart on trumpet. It’s a group with an amazing amount of talent and countless years of professional experience. Swing Shift had their official kick off with a debut concert at the Traverse City Opera House to well over 300 people. It was a night full of fun, food, drink, dance lessons, and of course the show! Professional dance instructor, Traci (Trombley) LeBlanc was on hand teaching some swing dance lessons before the show as well as during intermission. The floor was packed all night long!!!
